Create a Component

 The Components module allows you to store all the details about a particular component. 

Prior to creating a component you must make sure that you have all default settings in place, along with Component groups and Item Types set up.  It also assumes you have Purchase, Stocking and Sales Units setup. 

1.   Open the Components module

2.   Click on the Maintenance menu choose Item Type

3.   Select an item type, click on Properties to review the settings.  You can enter a price matrix for this item, assigning different Client Prices to it depending on the client type

4.   Click on the Cancel button, and click Cancel to close the Item Types window 

5.   Click on the Maintenance menu

6.   Click on Groups

7.   Select an item group, and click on Properties.  There is a lot of information that can be held in the Component Group. Click on each tab and review the settings

8.   Close the Groups window 

9.   Click on the New button to create a new component, and assign it to an Item Type, and Group

10. Choose a Group from the drop down box This is the group that the component will be part of

11. Click in the Code text box, and enter the code for the Item.  The code entered here can be serial number, or how the item is identified

12. Click on the Type drop down box and choose an Item Type category that this component fits into
Click on the Description box
Enter a description for the item

13. Click on the Purchase Unit drop down box and choose a purchase unit.
The purchase unit is how you buy this particular item. 

14. If the Estimate Unit is different than the Purchase Unit, click in the Estimate Unit drop down box, and choose an estimate unit
If the Sale Unit is different than the Purchase Unit, click in the Sale Unit drop down box and choose a unit that you sell this item as
Click on the Notes text box, and enter a note for this component if required
Notes are just additional information about the component, i.e. consistency, quality etc. 

15. Non-Stock.  If this item is not kept in stock, leave this unchecked.  If it is an item that we stock and sell or use, check this box
not allowed in BOM. If this item is not part of a Bill Of Materials, check this box

16. Round in Estimate.  If you would like the length to be rounded in an estimate, check this option
if you have put a tick in the Round in Estimate check box, enter a figure that this is to be rounded.

17. Save the changes to this component
