Once a database has been archived, it is recommended that a backup is taken on external multimedia (e.g. CD, DVD) in addition to the backup of the live database. Taking a backup ensures a copy will be available should a network failure occur e.g. hard disk crash.
When the software is upgraded in the future, each database will need to be upgraded manually – only the live database is upgraded automatically. To upgrade an archived database, log into the Systems Maintenance module (only system users, or users with access to the Systems Maintenance module will be able to do this). A message will appear advising there are database changes to be made. Press OK to the message to upgrade the database. When the login is complete and the main window of Systems Maintenance appears, the database has been upgraded.
