The Trade-in option is used to purchase Fixed Assets via the Asset acquisition functionality, and at the same time trade-in (sell) Fixed Assets via the Asset disposal module.
When the user clicks on the Trade-in option, the Invoice option in the Accounts Payable Module is activated, and the user may then enter a purchase invoice for the acquisition of one or more Fixed Assets. When the user posts the Invoice, a Fixed Assets Journal is created, and the Invoice option in the Accounts Receivable Module is activated.
The user may then enter a sales invoice for the disposal of one or more Fixed Assets. When the user posts the Invoice, the Fixed Assets Journal is amended.
In order to perform an Asset Trade-In, select the Trade-in option from the Fixed Assets menu. The process will then take the user through the Asset Disposal and Asset Acquire routines of this module.
