Maintain Client Pricing Methods

The prices we set up in the Client Special Pricing in the Inventory item, overrule all other pricing rules. Below are the pricing methods available to Inventory Users.

Pricing Methods

Volume Pricing: If we have made an item part of a group that records volume information, then the client gets charged according to the volume they want to purchase.

When we set up the Group, we specify the Selling Price Calculation as either: Volume, Customer Type or Neither. If we choose Volume, the Volume Charges tab becomes available and we can specify the amounts to charge here.

Customer Type: This method works with the Item Type and Customer Type data settings in Item (and Item Group) Maintenance and Accounts Receivable Customer Maintenance. This style of pricing allows you to build a matrix against an Item Type that says when customer type A buys a specific Item Type – from you they get Price and a % discount.

Neither: By selecting this method you are telling the Sales Order Module to simply use the default price for the system (set up in Inventory Defaults) when selling any item within this group.

Client Special Pricing

As explained in pricing the rules you set here overrule all other pricing rules if they are present. For instance if you have volume pricing in place and also a customer special price for an item, if the Sales Order Module finds an entry in this table then no matter how many items the customer purchases, they will always get this price. Note: when setting up customer special pricing here you are defining the clients against the item, when you set up customer special pricing in the Accounts Receivable module you are setting up items against a client. Use whatever method is appropriate to your needs. Please note that the Sales Order Quote function allows you to turn a quote into customer special pricing by highlighting the quote, right mouse click and choose Set Customer Special Pricing, choose your customer and then choose OK.
