To create an item, and marking it as a bill of materials (BOM).
The Bill of Materials is a component made up of other components. An example of a Bill of Materials would be a Manufactured Cupboard. The bill of materials would contain: Cupboard doors, handles, shelves etc. All of these items together would create the BOM, which is identified as a single component.
1. Open the Components module
2. Click on New
3. Choose the Group for this Item
4. Enter a Code for this component
5. Choose the Type for this Item
6. Enter the Description
7. Enter the Purchase Unit, Estimate Unit and Sale Unit for the Item
8. Check the
option for BOM Item
the Bill of Materials tab becomes available. This
is the only way to make a component a BOM component
9. Click in the
Notes field, and enter a note, further describing this Item if required
We
cannot save the BOM item yet, we must enter a Unit of Measure
10. Click on the Bill of
Materials tab and enter a Unit of Measure
Click Save and click on OK
