ATO Payroll Reporting – STP2

Zavanti has now been approved for use for STP2, the first stage in users updating is now available in Zavanti ERP Version 12.1. This document provides users guidance on the stages required to update your payroll data and reporting.

The ATO expects that you will be able to provide this information with effect from 1 July, although using the new reports is not mandated until January 2022. As this is mid-year we can report year to date figures for employees, however any changes to current work types or allowances settings will impact year to date reporting and result in errors. If changes are required you must set up new allowances and work types not edit the existing settings.

We do recommend that you discuss the extent of the changes with your tax advisors to clarify how you should be reporting the new disaggregated (ie including extensive detail to allow for Centrelink reporting!) information.

In order to assist with this transition process, we are making the releases in 2 stages:

1.   First Release – now available as Version 12.1 –allows users to update all data – work types allowances etc as noted below, however continue to report with current report format (2018) (refer to Release Notes for further details of What’s in V12.1)

2.   Second Release version12.1.1 (available on request once users satisfied with updates to payroll work types, employee details etc.) – allows users to update reporting to new STP 2 detailed report format (2020 version).

Notes below provide a very brief introduction on how to deal with the changes. We encourage you to review the ATO documentation and discuss with your tax advisers for full analysis of the new reporting requirements.
